 ASIS International (American Society of Industrial Security) is a 36,000 member international security training and resource association. ASIS is the most respected association of its type and affords professionals in the security industry ways to enhance their carriers, obtain accredited degrees, and enhance their overall skill set by closely working with Local and National Government groups.
Falken Officer Frankie Andrews was awarded their highest honor for his life saving abilities, when he saved the life of a child while working in Alexandria, VA. Officer Andrews received several gifts from ASIS in a awards banquet honoring him and all nominees.
On the evening of July 7, 2010, Officer Frankie Andrews came upon a family patronizing one of our client's establishments that were visiting from India. As he passed by the family he noticed a strange look on the face of their 9-year old daughter. The young girl appeared to be having severe difficulty with her breathing and he saw her trying to grasp at her own throat. Although the family could see that there was a serious problem, they stood by not knowing what to do. Immediately realizing that the girl was choking, Officer Andrews positioned himself down on one knee behind the girl and administered the "Heimlich Maneuver". After two or three properly performed abdominal thrusts, the young girl forcibly ejected a piece of food that was lodged in her airway. Once able to breath again, the girl started crying because she was scared as to what had happened. Realizing that her crying was a good thing, Officer Andrews then comforted the girl until she felt better. With the help of a family friend that spoke their language, Officer Andrews was able to explain to her family what he did to save their daughter from choking. Once they fully understood what had happened, the family members became emotional with gratitude and praise for his quick thinking and actions. They offered Officer Andrews money in appreciation, but he respectfully refused to accept it, telling them that "it was just part of his job".
This is the second time in three years that a Falken Officer has received this award. Falken congratulates
 Officer Andrews and the 40 other nominees for this award.
